How it
came together
Challenge
A wedding vlog and a wedding film are different things. The vlog runs the day in order and lets it breathe; it is a record, and it is the right format for the people who were there. For anyone who was not, the moments that carry the day are spread across twenty-six minutes.
Approach
Cut for shape instead of chronology. A cold open trails what is coming, then the film moves from the traditional dress and the family gathering through the ceremony to the reception, holding on the faces rather than the running order. Graded to keep the greens of the hillside and the depth of the ceremonial colour, with the sound built around the vows and the singing rather than laid under them.
Result
Six minutes that work for someone who was not at the wedding, finished as a speculative piece and cleared with the couple before going out.
